Teacher-Level Risk and Protective Factors Associated with LGBTQIA2S+ Youth Mental Health and Well-Being
Meta-Analysis
This project will review all existing literature on teacher-level risk and protective factors influencing mental health and wellbeing outcomes for LGBTQIA2S+ youth.
To better understand the impact of educator behaviours and characteristics on Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Intersex, Asexual, and Two-Spirit (LGBTQIA2S+) youth, a meta-analysis is being conducted to review all existing literature on the teacher-level risk and protective factors associated with LGBTQIA2S+ youth mental health and wellbeing. By identifying modifiable educator factors, this project hopes to provide evidence-based guidance for inclusive educator training, professional development, and school policies that best support 2SLGBTQIA+ students.
This work is timely given the ongoing risks and increasing anti-2SLGBTQIA+ legislation that impact these students in schools, offering actionable guidance to promote equity, resilience, and wellbeing for these students.
