Team Events

Monster Mini Golf Event

Glowing golf balls, neon monsters, and lots of laughter — our team had a great time playing on the monster-themed, blacklight mini golf. Between tricky holes and arcade games, we got a chance to unwind, cheer each other on, and enjoy some well-earned fun!

Game Day

Nothing brings a team together like a little friendly competition! We spent the day at Hexagon Board Game Cafe, between board games, laughs, and lattes; a perfect mix of fun, teamwork, and connection!

Paint Event

Inspired by our lab’s trailblazing mission, this event invited team members to reflect on their personal and professional journeys through art. With brushes in hand and canvases in front of us, we painted what our unique paths look like. It was a thoughtful (and colorful!) way to connect, express, and envision where we’re headed.

Trapped Escape Room Day

Teamwork, puzzles, and a little bit of panic! Our team put their problem-solving skills to the test during a fun escape room challenge. With brains buzzing and clocks ticking, we worked together to solve codes and (just barely!) escape in time.

We are thankful for the ability to live, work, and gather on this Land.

The TREC Lab recognizes we are gathered in an institution with a colonial history, and colonial present, and we aim to continually lessen ongoing colonial harms. We make this statement as an affirmation we are committed to improving our profession’s practices.

The members of the TREC Lab both acknowledge and pay tribute to the traditional territories of the peoples of Treaty 7, which include the Blackfoot Confederacy (comprised of the Siksika, the Piikani, and the Kainai First Nations), the Tsuut’ina First Nation, and the Stoney Nakoda (including Chiniki, Bearspaw, and Goodstoney First Nations). The City of Calgary is also home to the Métis Nation of Alberta (Districts 5 and 6). The city of Calgary is situated on land Northwest of where the Bow River meets the Elbow River, a site traditionally known as Moh’kins’tsis to the Blackfoot, Wîchîspa to the Stoney Nakoda, and Guts’ists’i to the Tsuut’ina.
